Students join various native speakers of Mandarin Chinese as they give a lively introduction to the language and its rich culture. Set in their everyday environment, the native speakers take students through different daily scenarios and give them the necessary skills to read, write, and speak Chinese. In this course, students learn the basic Chinese language. As students walk through the units step by step, they get to know not only the language itself, but also the culture in which the language takes place and keeps developing.

There is a reason “all roads lead to Rome.” Maybe it is because Romans built much of the ancient world’s highway system. Maybe it is also because the Roman culture and Latin language laid the foundation for much of Western culture. In this course, students find out for themselves as they take their first steps on a lifelong journey of discovery. Latin I is the most comprehensive way to begin. The purpose of this course is to give students a foundation in Latin grammar and vocabulary.
