CTM University Counseling Program
Exploring Destinations and Preparing for University Applications

Are you considering going abroad for your university studies?

Applying for and being accepted to an international university is a competitive and complex process that requires personalized guidance and expertise. The best time to start the process is one to two years before high school graduation, ideally during septima / pre-graduation year.

The CTM University Counseling Program will open your eyes to the world of universities, explain each country’s admissions process, guide you in selecting the right university and mentor you to produce a successful application. An experienced American certified university counselor with a high success rate of helping students gain access to the world’s leading universities will coach you every step of the way. Under your counselor’s guidance, you will learn how to select the best-fit universities to achieve your academic pursuits and prepare an outstanding application. 

5 group sessions, 2 individual sessions

 March 2023 – June 2023 from 19.00-20.00

 Group sessions online:  April 5, April 19, May 17, May 24, June 7, 2023

 One-on-one sessions online: you will book in June individually

What to expect:

• Students will understand the country-specific admissions and application process in North America – USA and Canada, the UK, the Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland, and other European countries (including Austria, Germany, and Spain).
• Students will learn to use UCAS, Studielink, CAO, Common App and other application platforms.
• Students will receive the toolkit to be used throughout the CTM Counseling Program to define their choices and manage deadlines.
• Students will learn how to select universities using a framework that considers academic, financial, social, and emotional fit.
• Students will make the preliminary university selection for each destination presented based on their personality, learning style and objectives to recognize the right fit for them.
• Students will write their CV and Personal Statement based on guiding information and criteria and give and receive peer-to-peer feedback before consulting their documents with their CTM counsellor.
• Students will get detailed and personalized feedback on their CV and Personal Statement or Common App prompt, depending on where they plan to apply.
• Students will be guided to prepare their action plan of activities necessary for a successful university application (letter of recommendation, language test, etc.).

 Important:
To make the most of the program, students will be asked to work on biweekly assignments which will be used in the one-to-one meetings with their counsellor. Throughout the program, we expect and require a high degree of student engagement and that students fulfil bi-weekly tasks. The finished application documents, including writing a high-quality personal statement and or CV, depend on the level of student input, involvement and effort in the preparation process. Students should incorporate the feedback given to them on their first draft of materials before submitting their final work and consulting with their CTM university counselor.

In order to take full advantage of the program's benefits, students need to take a proactive approach.

 Group Sessions:

• April 5 study in the Netherlands, creating a CV
• April 19 Study in the UK, Writing your Personal Statement
• May 17 Study in the USA and Canada, Answering the Common App Prompt
• May 24 Study in Denmark & Ireland
• June 7 Study in Europe (Austria, Spain, Germany), financing your studies

Each session takes place Wednesday at 19.00 online. Sessions last 50 minutes.

 Individual Support:

• Two one-on-one meetings during June, which include reviewing your action plan and feedback on your application, CV and Personal Statement

Two individual one-to-one sessions are included in the program. Students can book further  consultations with their university counselor based on their individual needs, however these are not a part of the CTM program and are agreed and paid individually to the university counselor.

At the end of the program, students will have the confidence and know-how to produce a successful application to their chosen universities.

Please note that sessions will not be recorded to facilitate authentic interactions.
