Europe looks to the Czech Republic: European Association of AP Schools (EAAPS)
PRESS RELEASE
Prague, December 1, 2025
The Czech Republic is becoming a driving force in international cooperation in education. The initial meeting of the Czech section of the European Association of Advanced Placement (AP) Schools (EAAPS) took place in Prague – an institution conceived by Czech educators.
The EAAPS connects institutions using the prestigious international Advanced Placement® (AP®) educational program. Its goal is to support academic excellence, share the best pedagogical practices and strengthen the recognition of AP exams and diplomas across European education systems.
The EAAPS initiative stems from a partnership between Sunny Canadian International School and the Center for Talented Minds (CTM), evolving into a European network of schools striving for modern, international standard education, using the AP system, which opens the doors to the best universities in the world for students. The Czech Republic is thus setting an example inspiring other countries in supporting academic rigor, bilingual education, and international recognition of educational outcomes.
Initial Meeting of the Czech Section of EAAPS
The initial meeting of the Czech section of EAAPS took place in mid-November 2025 in Prague with the participation of 42 representatives from 21 state and private schools from all over the Czech Republic – principals, coordinators and teachers enabling their students to study AP courses. Discussions focused on the benefits of the AP program for Czech students, the exchange of experiences between schools, the recognition of AP exams in the admissions process at universities and the possibility of using AP exams in the high school graduation diploma. The recognition of AP exams at graduation sparked a lively discussion and brought proposals for further steps towards the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and towards Czech universities.
The atmosphere of the whole day was excellent and confirmed that the Czech Republic is today one of the main drivers of modern, internationally comparable education in Europe. The inaugural meeting of EAAPS with international participation will take place in April 2026 in Prague.
The organizers are grateful and appreciate Microsoft Czech Republic for providing facilities and overall support in the implementation of the meeting.

The Center for Talented Minds, a non-profit educational organization, was the first to bring the Advanced Placement (AP) program to the Czech Republic. Since 2010, CTM offers the AP international standard mainly to Czech students through online courses and exams. CTM has enabled over 3,500 Czech students to obtain an international education with the AP. Over 9,000 students have graduated from CTM programs. CTM is a partner of the College Board for organizing AP exams in the Czech Republic.
Sunny Canadian International School is the first Czech school to offer a complete AP program directly within its curriculum.
