The internationally acknowledged AP tests are newly recognized at the Institute of Economic Studies at Charles University in Prague. In the Czech Republic, the AP tests are offered by the Center for Talented Minds.
The Center for Talented Minds (CTM) in the Czech Republic has set up a cooperation with the Institute of Economic Studies (IES FSV UK) at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University in Prague. Through this cooperation, prospective students will be able to use results of the interntionally renowed AP tests. IES FSV UK will use the results of AP tests for admission scores for the Czech Bachelor program in Economics and Finance and also the AP scores will be recognized as an equivalent for selected compulsory courses in both the Czech and English undergraduate program.
“We welcome the decision of the Institute of Economic Studies, Charles University to recognize achivements in the international AP tests at the admission process and during the university studies. It is a clear signal for students, that pursuing studies beyond a secondary school curriculum and showing to universities an interest in the chosen field is worth the effort. Our students, measured internationally, achieve superior results in the AP tests.” said Jeanne Bočková, director of CTM.
“College Board is very pleased to have the Institute of Economic Studies of Charles University, one of Europe’s oldest higher education institutions, join the more than 700 universities in 70 countries already recognizing Advanced Placement exams. Students in more than 120 countries took AP exams in May 2016.” said Judith Hegedus, International Director College Board.
Advanced Placement (AP) tests are subject matter tests at the level of the first year in an American university that are taken every year in May at schools registered by the College Board, an American organization that prepares and administers the tests. AP test results are reported in July. Several Czech schools are registered by the College Board and administer the AP tests.
By taking AP tests, students signal to university admissions offices their interest, determination and discipline to meet their commitments. AP tests offer a consistent measure of rigor on a global scale.

Founded in 1991 as one of the five institutes of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University in Prague, the Institute of Economic Studies (IES) has gradually become the most prestigious place to study economics in the Czech Republic.
The IES offers programs both for Czech and foreign students. The education programs for foreign students are provided through a selection of English-taught tuition-based programs on Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD levels. The teaching excellence of economics at the IES is based on analytical preparation, modern economic theory and its application to the world of finances, banking, currency politics, economic regulation and public finance sectors. The courses are taught both by the IES faculty and by external professionals from the financial industry.
The IES offers an international environment as over 80% of all courses are taught in English, and also maintains a family-size atmosphere.
The curriculum of all IES programs is recognized by the Chartered Analyst Institute (CFA) university recognition program. Through this we have joined some of the most renowned programs that prepare students for becoming financial analysts, portfolio managers, or investment advisors.
