Start with Science B follows up on Start with Science A and guides students on their journey through the fascinating world of natural sciences. In the first module, Start with Science B explains what it means to be a scientist and shows the world “science” actually means. The second module focuses on plants and animals, while the third module reveals the secrets of chemistry. So, are you ready to join us?

In this course, students learn English vocabulary they are likely to encounter should they choose to study science in the future. Furthermore, the course provides an opportunity to practice time management, self-organisation and the formal side of essay writing. 

Jsi připravený objevovat náš svět zblízka? Víš kolik fascinujících úkazů na tebe čeká? V kurzu Start with Science B se podíváme do světa přírodních věd. V tomto kurzu tě čekají tři velká témata – věda, biologie a chemie.

Vysvětlíme si, jak a s čím vědci pracují a jak se stát dobrým vědcem. V biologické kapitole se podíváme na malinké buňky a vyzkoumáme, jak se liší naše buňky od rostlinných. Budeme mluvit o zvířatech, rostlinách, jejich soustavách, ale i soužití. Chemie se nemusíš bát, čeká tě zajímavé objevování těch nejmenších možných částic, barevně hořících látek a jejich reakcí. Bum!

V průběhu kurzu ti bude k dispozici zkušený instruktor, jenž ti může pomoci a povzbudit tě, když si nebudeš vědět rady. 

Na rozdíl od školy ti přesný rozvrh neurčíme, bude jen na tobě, kdy se budeš učení věnovat. Ale termíny odevzdání úkolů či kvízů ti přeci jenom určíme, abys v klidu kurz dodělal. 

V kurzu budeš číst zajímavé texty, koukat na videa, luštit křížovky, řešit kvízy a také si vyzkoušíš zábavné pokusy! Vše bude v angličtině, ale neboj se, kurz je připravený právě pro studenty začínající se studiem v angličtině.

Kurz Start with Science B představuje základy přírodovědných disciplín, všeobecně vědu, biologii a chemii. Seznamuje studenty se základní terminologií daných oborů a nabízí možnost vyzkoušet si doma několik vědeckých pokusů. Jako instruktorku mě vždy překvapí, jak moc se studenti zlepší v angličtině během pouhého jednoho semestru. Kolik nových slovíček se naučí a jak se vyvíjí jejich schopnost formulovat myšlenky a nebo například jak se naučí perfektně psát laboratorní protokoly.

The Start with Science B course shows the basics of natural sciences, especially general science, biology and chemistry. It teaches the students common vocabulary used in those scientific fields and provides them the opportunity to try experiments at home. As an instructor, I’m always surprised with the large amount of progress that students can make in English. In just one term of the course, I see them learn and use new vocabulary and develop the ability to formulate ideas and write lab protocols.

Na kurzech oceňujeme zejména formu samostudia ala vysoká škola a velice se nám líbí způsob hodnocení po jednotlivých částech, včetně závěrečného hodnocení.Také velice oceňujeme, že si veškeré termíny a přezkoušení dcera domlouvá sama, bez naší účasti a tím se uči přijímat zodpovědnost za své studium. Líbí se nám i týmové úkoly, kde se studenti učí pracovat v týmu. Musíme také říct, že jsme dali na Vaši radu a nechali jsme dceru si vybrat kurzy dle vlastního výběru. Je tak více angažovaná. Jsme si jisti, že tento způsob výuky kvalitně připravuje dítě na budoucí studium jak střední, tak vysoké školy.

I really enjoyed this course. I learned really a lot of things and I think also my english is better than on the start. It was really fun. Sometimes I haven't got so much time but I always followed the deadline for tasks. Personally, I would add some warning before experiments, so that student has enough time to prepare. I know I must read the instruction in time, but some warning can be good i my option ;). It was a bit hard and I am littlebit glad it's almost over, but now I will have so much free time and I really don't know how to use it. I was thinking about some spring course, but for now I'll take a rest and the next school year I want to do some course again. I'm really glad that something like CTM exist, because I hate when I have free time which can I use meaningfully, but I spend it on social media or in some games. So this is a good teacher for teaching students how to use their free time meaningfully and it's very important. I really like this idea :).

I liked most of the experiments because they taught me new things and reminded me of what I already knew. I really enjoyed being able to try things out in practice because that way I remember the knowledge much better.  Working with the instructor was pleasant and communication was smooth.

I really liked the experiments we did in this course. I thing this course gave me a lot. A lots of new words in english and I learned more than normally in school! I learned some things that I already forget from school or never understanded. This course also helped me practice english every day. I don't understand much, what do you mean by "things you missed" but you are probably talking about things I didn't do. I think I haven't done just one assigment and thats one experiment with cabbage. But I hope thats all, and everything except this i hopefully did. On something I have low procents, but I tried. Communication with my instructor was pretty good.
